Our Friends Place - Social Advertising For Vacation HomesI spend most of my working life in the travel industry. I work for a vacation management company out of Tennessee and do a little consulting for other travel companies around the South East. Here recently, I have spent a lot of time helping to develop a new way for vacation rental owners and management companies to advertise their vacation homes. While there are several vacation portals (some good, some bad), there are not many options within the social media world. Birthed out of frustration in achieving the vast number of social media users, the Facebook application called Our Friend’s Place was created.

Within this application vacation owners and management companies can advertise their rental properties. While this idea is very normal on the web, it is fairly new among social media outlets. Within this Facebook application, you are allowed to utilized some cool networking features that have become well known among avid social media users. For instance, users of Our Friend’s Place can promote, like, comment, and update the status of vacation homes. This allows property owners and property managers a unique way of utilizing social networking.

Some cool features withing Our Friend’s Place…

  1. Friends and friends of friends can see what type of property you own. Up until this point they might not even know you own a vacation home.
  2. Very similar to all other vacation portals in that the application has a destination search, photos tab, description and amenities field, Youtube video, and community feedback.
  3. Users and friends can like or promote properties to news feeds and profile walls. This is a great way to socially promote your vacation rental.
  4. Businesses can get involved as well. Businesses are encouraged to place listings that include website and phone number. To help users find these businesses, business are listed under “related attractions/restaurants” on the property pages. The parameters for this are based on city and state.
  5. Each property page has an accountability partner at the very bottom. A stat tracker helps keep everyone accountable to the success of your listing.
  6. Bulk pricing is available for management companies, but pricing for the average users is $69. Within this price, users can up load up to 10 properties.
